A Fresh Touch From God

"And the ill favored and lean-fleshed kine did eat up
these seven well favored and fat kine... and the thin
ears swallowed up the seven rank and full ears."
Gen. 41:4,7

There is a warning for us in that dream, just as it
stands;  It is possible for the best years of our life,
the best experiences, the best victories won, the best
service rendered, to be swallowed up by times of
failure, defeat, dishonor, uselessness in the kingdom.

Some men's lives of rare promise and rare achieve-
ment have ended so.  It is awful to think of, but it is true.
Yet, it is never necessary.

S.D. Gordon has said that the only assurance of safety
against this tragedy is a "fresh touch with God," daily,
hourly.  The blessed, fruitful, victorious experiences of
yesterday are not only of no value to me today, but they
will actually be eaten up or reversed by today's failures,
unless they serve as incentives to still better, richer
experiences today.

"Fresh touch with God," by abiding in Christ, alone will
keep the lean kine and the ill favored grain out of my life

The Scariest Verse in the Bible!

"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
against us."

When we pray this prayer, we are asking God to treat us the way that
we treat those who have offended us.

I always took that verse very seriously.  I saw first hand unforgiveness
kill two of the people I loved most in this world.  I saw them become
bitter, cynical, angry, and then, sick.

When life dealt me some unfair blows, I knew I had a choice.  I could
become bitter or I could become better.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not proposing that forgiveness is always an
easy thing to do, maybe never easy because our human emotions
get involved.  But, if we take God seriously. and we SHOULD!  Then
we have to figure out how to put our emotions aside and forgive.

Forgiveness is not something we do for the other person. It is a gift we
give ourselves.  It frees us up to receive God's blessings. It takes the
power of the person who hurt us away and gives it back to us.

Once you forgive, then you are no longer vulnerable to that person's
behavior.  What they did, what they said no longer has any power over
you.

How do you know if you have forgiven?  Several things come to mind.
You will always remember the situation or circumstance that wounded
you, but there will be no more pain associated with it when forgiveness
has done it's complete work.

When the person comes into the room, it will no longer cause an un-
pleasant reaction from your emotions.  If. every time you see someone
they draw an unpleasant reaction from you, then they are controlling you.
As long as they can affect your mood, they and their actions are in
control of you.  Don't exalt your emotions over your decision to forgive.

NO, I'm not going to respond like that.
NO, I'm not going to say that.
NO, I'm not going to lay in bed and seethe over that.

Get control back in your life.  Determine to forgive.  It is a choice. Your
emotions may not line up immediately (probably won't) but if you are
determined, they will line up.

It's OVER, it's FINISHED.
Consistently resist your emotions ands you will bring them under.
Be FREE!

Feel the Fear and do it Anyway!

Ezra 3:3 "Though fear had come upon them..."
they set the altars, they made offerings, they
kept feasts, they gave money to the workers,
as well as food and drink, they worked, and
oversaw work, they praised the Lord and gave
thanks and shouted

In other words, they didn't let the enemy stop
them with fear.

An acronym for fear:
 F. False
 E. Evidence
 A. Appearing
 R. Real

Fear is one of the main tools that satan uses to
stop God's children from doing what they are
called to do.  Many times it comes in the form of
insecurity and fear of what others will think.
Whatever form in comes in, know this!  Fear does
not come from God!

If you are struggling with fear in any area of your
life, I challenge you to take some time and look up
all the scriptures about fear in the Bible.  Repeatedly,
God tells his children, "fear not".

Then, go on and do what you need to do.  You may
still feel the fear, but do what you need to do anyway!
Action will dissipate fear.  My favorite go to scripture
when fear tries to hold me back is "I can do all things
through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13

Don't be deceived into thinking "I will do that when the
fear goes away."  If the enemy finds out that fear will
hold you back, he will use it often.  Feelings are deceptive,
act on the Word, not your feelings! Feel the fear and do
it anyway!

Really?

God woke me up this morning to tell me this!  REALLY?
Yep!

How often to we hear people say things like, "I'm too
busy to read the Bible."  "I'm too busy to pray."  "I'm too
busy to go to service." etc. etc.

REALLY?

But, those same people have plenty of time to do what
they really want to do. They make time for the things that
are a priority to them. For example, going out to eat,
spending time on facebook, watching tv, spending time
with friends.

God says, "And do not be conformed to this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may
prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of
God."

Renewing our mind is not a one shot thing.  It is a daily
thing. Just as our minds are affected daily by everything
going on around us, we must let God affect us daily by
His Word.

If Jesus got up early to pray, went aside alone to be with
His Father, how much more do we need that time with God?

Spending more time with God is a choice that will affect
the rest of your life in a positive way. In ways you cannot
imagine. Can you say that  about the other things taking
your time now?

I challenge you.  Think about where you are spending your
time, find the things that can be replaced with Time with God.
You will be glad you did and so will He!
Rework your schedule.  Prioritize. What can be more important
in your life than your time with the Lord?

We only get one life.  Don't let the days
slip by in busyness that does not profit. Don't let meaningless
pass times steal time that you could be growing and becoming
all God wants you to be. The Word of God
and time with God is the BEST thing you can do for yourself
and for your children.

What is that to You?

John 21:22 "If I want him to remain alive until I
return, what is that to you? You must follow me."

WOW! What a sermon I just heard!  I love it when
I hear something I haven't heard before, that opens
up a whole new way of thinking.  I knew the principle
but this was put in a way I hadn't heard before.

The bottom line is this, quit worrying about what
others are doing.  At all costs, stay away from this
dangerous way of thinking, "It's not fair."  That one
thought will get you off track and distracted.  It is
not our business what the other guy is doing, it's
God's business.

Our business is to "follow Him."  We are responsible
for our own actions, our own spiritual journey.  We
are responsible for how we react to the other guy.
It is God's responsibility to change the other guy.
God has a plan for each person's life and it is a one
on one situation. (He doesn't need our help and
we can actually slow the process down when we try
to interject our "help" into the situation)

We can't change anyone else and it is not our responsibility
to change anyone else.  Truth be known, we have our hands
full changing ourselves with God's help.

So, it's time to quit asking things like "God, why did you
allow that to happen?" It's time to get rid of the attitude
"It's not fair."

It's time to let God be God.  It's time to say, "God, I'm
going to trust you in this.  I will keep my focus on Jesus
and look to Him alone. "  He has a plan for me and He
has a plan  for them.

His Way

God bades me go when I would stay
(Twas cool within the wood);
I did not know the reason why.
I heard a bolder crashing by
Across the path where I stood.

He bade me stay when I would go;
"Thy will be done,"  I said.
They found one day at early dawn,
Across the way I would have gone,
A serpent with a mangled head.

No more I ask the reason why,
Although I may not see
The path ahead, His way I go;
For though I know not, He doth know,
And He will choose safe paths for me.

Safe Landing

"Jesus Christ is no security against storms, but He
is perfect security in storms.  He has never promised
you an easy passage, only a safe landing.

Oh, set your sail to the heavenly gale,
And then, no matter what winds prevail,
No reef can wreck you, no calm delay;
No mist shall hinder, no storm shall stay;
Though far you wander and long you roam
Through salt sea sprays and o'er white sea foam,
No wind that can blow but shall speed you home.

Living Out Loud!

I am sooo looking forward to our next Women's
Ministry meeting and discussion of The Resolution
For Women!

This book is amazing and all about growing up and
living our faith outloud!  Because actions speak
sooo much louder than words!!

Exerpt:
Faith-"It's more than just having a firm persuasion;
it's moving that firm persuasion into forward motion.
Having a strong set of beliefs is one thing. But
standing up tall on them, making decisions according
to them, and adjusting your life to line up with them--
that's quite another."

"That's faithfulness."

"Faithfulness is born when the outward expressions
of your beliefs are lived out over time.  Often through
difficulty.  For difficulty is where faithfulness is honed
and brought to life.  You'd never classify someone as
being faithful unless you'd seen her stand firm during
a course of action and decision where it would have
been much simpler to throw in the towel.  The more
consistently a person  does this, the more honored she
is for her steadfastness and perserverance."

Submission, It’s Not a Bad Word!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are a part of the Women's or
Men's ministry study of the Resolution Books!!  These
studies are going to be a HUGE blessing.  If you haven't
been going to the meetings (1st and 3rd Sunday of each
month) It's NOT TOO LATE!! Start now!!
We are just beginning the books, and even if you don't
have a book yet, come and listen to the discussions with
a fantastic group of men and/or women!  I promise, you
will be blessed!!

There are so many wonderful, challenging topics covered
in our discussions and I KNOW this will be a good one!
The covering of the subject of SUBMISSION!

From the book-Submission-It's simply defined as a decision
to yield to people, precepts, and principles that have been
placed in our lives as authorities.

"Like a fire that is best enjoyed within the confines of a fireplace,
your strength can best be displayed, it's benefits most fully
experienced, when you choose the trusted, effective boundaries
of God's established order.

Even Jesus chose to live a totally submitted  lifestyle-- one He
described this way: " I always do what pleases (The Father)"
John 8:29

"You, too, are responsible for how you function within your sub-
mitted role, putting your trust in God's faithful love and goodness
by obeying Him against any urge to the contrary."

"Are you offended at the thought of yielding to the authority of
another?" or

"Are you even now pursuing a spiritual covering by seeking
accountability with those whose lives you respect, those whose
godly maturity can provide you with strong, helpful counsel and
direction as you navigate life?"

Come Sunday evening to enjoy this lively discussion! 6pm Sunday!
In the Sanctuary for Women's Ministry. Fellowship Hall for Men's
Ministry!

Why Pray?

I've heard lots of sermons about and done
a lot of praying in my life.  In fact, I'm sure
God wishes I'd hush up some time!

But, I got a whole new revelation about prayer
from one sentence spoken in a sermon by
T.D. Jakes.

"God only asks you to pray to bring you into
agreement with Him and His Word."  "What do
you know that Heaven doesn't know."

When I heard him say that, it was like a light bulb
went off!  Do we really think we need to pray to
fill God in on the latest in  our lives?  Of course
not!  He knows it all already!

This really brought it home to me.  Whatever the
situation, whatever the problem you are facing-
find a scripture that speaks to it and then pray
that.  Agree in prayer with what God has to say
about the situation.

I've known that, but that one sentence made it so
real to me!  What a blessing that God wants us
to come into agreement with Him so that He can
move.  His Word will NOT return void.  Be sure
your prayers bring you into agreement with that
word.  God already knows the rest!
